Anadwo

Dark and pretty!

She lies eccentrically still

On her sandy bed

The rocky pillows are no comfort

Neither are her teddy stones

Scattered about her

She wears a face of gloom and worry

Like the alasa trees

In her garden

Here

Meet Anadwo

Bitter

Sweet

Tasting like the alasa fruit

There is something troubling

About the whole blurred picture

As she lies still

Even against the cruel cold

That beats her to the bone

Anadwo!

She shivers nor coils up

Her soft silky body

She moves not

Not even an arm

And I wonder if she is even breathing…still

Might it be that she is afraid of something

Could it be the trees or mountains

That stood by unconcerned

And oh

I almost missed it

She is afraid

…Of the eaters of the living

Who might wear her dark face

To sow and reap evil

Oh Ɛwuradi!

So much taking place

In and around her

that interestingly

The universe even get affected enough

To shed tears

Tears reveal to us by the grasses and plants who witnesses

The magical show

Tears of sorrow

Tears of joy

Bitter

Sweet

….Anadwo
